SFS Public School ICSE & ISC celebrated the World Environment Day and World Bicycle Day on 4th June, 2022. The staff and students began the day with a high spirit all dressed in vibrant costumes along with colourful props. Dr. N. Ramachandran, Plant Pathologist and Research Scientist (Retired), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), was the Chief Guest of the day. To mark the day and spread awareness about the environment and the benefits of cycling, speech competition was held among the four Houses: Mercury, Venus, Saturn & Neptune, wherein the students were judged based on their performance by the guest Dr. N. Ramachandran. A lot of enthusiasm was seen while the students articulated and expressed their thoughts on stage. Every member of the house cheered for their fellow team members and encouraged one another.
An awareness rally led by the staff and students under the able leadership of Rev. Dr.Jabamalai, the principal was indeed a startling sight with NCC Cadets cycling along the street accompanying the students of four houses while others marching. The rally started from ICSE ground and moved towards Vimalalaya Hospital and then back downward to the SFS College entrance and then from college, back to the ICSE Ground. Staff, students and parents were asked to plant saplings and create a green corner. In order to promote and safeguard the environment, the Principal and students of SFS ICSE & ISC distributed saplings during the rally to the passers-by urging them to plant saplings for a greener environment.
The celebrations came to an end with everyone pledging to take the initiative of saving the environment and doing their bit for a cleaner and greener Mother Earth.
