‘Conserve Nature and nature will conserve us.’
To mark the need and significance of conserving nature St. Francis De Sales Public School observed a World Environment Day and the World Bicycle Day with the theme ‘Beat the Plastic Pollution’ on 3rd June, 2023.
The event commenced with prayer seeking God’s blessings followed by a delightful welcome speech. The school was thrilled to have Mr. Dushyant Dubey, a renowned social activist of Bengaluru as the Chief Guest.
Creating awareness among the young minds about the need of conserving nature is very crucial at the moment. Hence, to make the day more entertaining and to instill understanding, the students of four Houses presented various competitions such as vegetable carving and thematic street plays about conserving forest, wildlife, beating pollution and protecting marine life to make the world a better place for all living beings. To raise public awareness beyond campus the students and teachers took a step ahead to organize a rally which involved promotion of riding bicycles and shouting slogans in and around the school premises to bring down air pollution, prevent deforestation and make earth greener by distributing saplings to passers-by.
To signify the importance of the Environment Day, planting of a sapling was done by the Chief Guest, Mr. Dushyant Dubey along with the Principal Rev. Fr. Binoy and Fr. Mijo, the Finance Administrator of SFS Group of Institutions. Teachers were also presented a sapling each. The Chief guest Mr. Dushyant Dubey and Rev. Fr. Binoy, the Principal addressed the students citing the importance of conserving the environment and emphasizing on cleanliness quoting-‘Charity begins at home’, thereby implying to nurture the nature to have better future.
